Hello and welcome to the Sony E3 2017 press conference recap. In a nutshell, nearly every game shown during this press conference will not be releasing until 2018 or later. Keep that in mind as we run through this. Here we go!
First up was a gameplay/cinematic trailer for Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. The game looks fantastic as does damn near every single Sony exclusive game.
Next was the announcement of a story expansion for Horizon Zero Dawn titled The Frozen Wilds. This is going to be coming out sometime within the year.
Days Gone was up next with an extended gameplay trailer. Not coming until 2018 or later.
Monster Hunter World was finally shown off and will not be a PlayStation exclusive but will be coming out in 2018. So that is a bummer. Starting to see the theme yet?
Shadow of the Colossus is getting fully remade for the PlayStation 4 and guess what?! It is coming out sometime in 2018...
Thankfully something that is coming out this year is Marvel VS Capcom Infinite which will include a story mode along with Dante from Devil May Cry and Rocket from Guardians of the Galaxy. Oh yeah, the story demo is available now. SO GO AND DOWNLOAD IT!
Call of Duty WWII was shown off next with a gameplay/cinematic trailer. But that was it, just a trailer. No mission walkthrough like normal. But hey, why am I complaining at the lack of CoD content?! This is coming out November 3rd 2017 but you already knew that didn't you?
PlayStation VR has a small showcase, showing games that never needed to be in VR in the first place. These titles include Skyrim, Star Child which is a side-scroller, The Inpatient which is a horror game, Monster of the Deep which is FFXV fishing, Bravo Team which is an FPS, and finally Moss which is an adventure game following a mouse. Oh yeah, none of these games have a release window except for the Final Fantasy fishing which is coming out in September 2017.
God of War had a strong showing with a new gameplay trailer. Surprising no one, it is coming out early 2018.
Detroit Become Human was next and showed off more detailed but also confusing gameplay. Of course it is coming out either 2018 or later.
Destiny 2 had to get some screen time due to the exclusivity deals. Turns out yes, more exclusive content is coming in the form of a strike, ship, gear, exotic weapon, and crucible map. The game releases on September 8th on consoles and from the new information that has been provided will be on PC on October 24th 2017. The Beta will be live on July 18th for PS4 owners, the 19th for Xbox owners, and the open beta will be available on the 21st for consoles. PC beta access will be in late August.
Finally, instead of The Last of Us: Part 2, Spiderman was the last game of the show and man did it show well. All quick time events aside, it looks to take the combat from the Batman Arkham games and add in some spidey goodness. Look for this one, you guessed it, in 2018.
And that does it for Sony's E3 2017 Press Conference.
Thank you for reading and stay tuned for recaps of all of the press conferences during E3 2017.
