Hello and welcome to the EA E3 2017 Press Conference recap. As expected there was some sports talk, new games, and of course, the cringe. Let's get into it.
Kind of suprising for an opening to the show, EA showed of Madden 18 and with it, a brand new story mode which is a first for the franchise.
Next up, EA spent some time talking about Battlefield 1 and the upcoming expansion titled In the Name of the Tsar. This expansion will include six new maps, new weapons and vehicles, the Russian army, and female soldiers. The expansion is slated to release in September of 2017. EA also announced that two maps are getting nighttime visuals. These will be coming soon as well. Finally they stated that a new competitive mode is coming to Battlefield 1. More information on this will be coming soon.
Next up was FIFA 18 and FIFA Ultimate Team competition. FIFA 18 will continue the story of Hunter, who of which everyone and their mother is interested in apparently.
Need For Speed Payback was up next and this is where the cringe factor really hit. Think of this as Need for Speed + Fast and the Furious. In other words, awesome in theory but could be poor in execution.
Now it was finally time for something new, and EA definitely delivered. A Way Out is an indie title made by the team behind Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. It follows the story of two completely unrelated prisoners who are working together to break out of prison. This could be Prison Break: The Game (not really). It is going to be a coop adventure where the game is shown in splitscreen regardless of playing with someone on the couch or online.
EA then decided to show off another heavy hitter with a brand new IP from Bioware. This one it titled Anthem and more will be included within the Microsoft recap so stay tuned! In the meantime, here is a teaser.
NBA Live 18, the franchise that EA will not just kill off, was shown off next. It was shown off with an in-game replay... Great... Oh, a demo is coming out in August and all progress made will transfer over to the full game so there is that... Oh (again), there will be a story mode as well so that is something.
Considering this is E3, EA decided to allow everyone to play some of their older titles for free over the week! That's right, EA Access (Xbox), Origin Access (PC), and some PS4 titles will be free to play over this week. Take advantage, I heard that Need for Speed game isn't that bad (just kidding).
Finally, and the news everyone has been waiting for... Star Wars Battlefront 2 was shown off as a multiplayer match including everything from class based soldiers, air combat, heroes, and much more. EA is stating that this will be three times bigger than the first game at launch (if the Single Player is included in that number, I am still scared). Another big announcement, all post launch content will be absolutely free for all players! You can pre-order right now for beta access.
And that does it for EA's E3 2017 Press Conference.
Thank you for reading and stay tuned for recaps of all of the press conferences during E3 2017.
