Google Stadia Press Conference Recap

While not directly an E3 press conference, Google had this presentation close enough to the start of the big event so why not talk about it? Besides, Stadia is gaming related. So this makes sense. Trust me. On to the recap!

So what is Google Stadia? Stadia is Google’s game streaming initiative. There is no console required. Instead, games will be streamed from Googles servers and your internet connection does the rest. And yes, ISP data caps apply (sorry Comcast/Xfinity subscribers).

At launch, Stadia will be supported on TV’s via a Chromecast Ultra, desktop, laptop, and tablet computers with the use of a Google Chrome tab, and Google Pixel phones (specifically the 3 and 3A). More phones will be supported post-launch.

So what type of internet connection is required per resolution being streamed? Great question! Google was great enough to provide a handy little graphic. Let’s take a look shall we?
